I went out to take pictures, rolled my ankle, fell down from that and skinned my knee. It hurt so and came in to ice my wound. I'll try to get more photos later. the garden is just magical right now.

My garden is my happy place. Enjoy how free of grass and weeds it is. I won't be able to tend to it for 3 months after my surgery.

The Yarden is coming right along. Having not been beset upon by hungry bunnies even once this growing season, I actually have plants that are not perpetually starting over.

The onions and broccoli I planted last weekend are doing great and now there are cauliflower, golden beets and rainbow chard starts in the ground too. Max built me some raised beds and I seeded them with lettuce and kale blends, so we'll be having some great salads in a few weeks.

I was going to write about my vegetable patch in the back also, but stopped short because M got home from work and I wanted to hang out with him instead. In the four years that I have lived in my house, I have concentrated most of my gardening efforts on my vegetable patch out back. This year I am embarking on a new project. I got the last of my starts into the ground today. Garlic, potatoes, and a petunia. I also planted some Artichokes that the animals had eaten while they were still in their pots and I had given up on. First off, I got chickens! Three banty hens. one is a white Cochin that will have fluffy feets, and the other two I have no idea. They are kind of blue with rusty stripes.
